How pathetic is it that....

...after reading the excellent review, plus more, by [profile] pepino21786  of Glass Menagerie, when, during the Q&A, Randy says he's reading Hart Crane, I have to go out and buy Crane's complete works (#6 down the linked page)

AND I have to order the very same bio Randy says he's reading, Broken Tower

AND, at the very end of review (after pepino's pics) where pepino's friend snagged some info from a local magazine, when Randy answers a question about what's on his iPod, I have to go running to the iTune Store and download two of them, Brian Eno and Lou Reed...geez.

It's also kind of pathetic that it took me half an hour to compose this post, with two edits and counting, but at least I was able to do it...something I would not've even considered doing just two short months ago.

Gaeln, you are good!

Will you tell us more about Broken Tower if/when you read it?

I've never liked Eno and Lou Reed. Velvet Underground so-so, but also not very much.

I'm the one who needs a lot of time for posting! Don't take over my crown, dear.

Am I good or am I crazy? not sure but I've only just started reading Crane's complete works and I figure it will take the better part of this year, read around everything else, I'm not a huge fan of poetry, especially abstract poetry which his seems to be.

I won't even get the bio for a couple of week, had to backorder it but once read, I'll let you know about it. I do love reading about sad poets, Shelly, Rimbaud and the rest.

Oh and I had to like Reed because he was Bowie's little personal offering to the music world and I love love love Bowie but Eno I just like.

Good? Crazy? Why should we behave all serious, do all things rationally and after due reflection? Because we are over 40?! Life is serious and hard as it is already. We need those crazy moments, we need a girlish laugh and joy. Until we can still find that little child in us our dreams and tales and hopes and loves will remain alive. So, as Prince used to sing, "Let's go crazy!"

I'm not into poetry myself. Occasionally I read a poem or two, loudly, I need to hear it. But not abstract poems; they're not my desire. Rimbaud, Paul Verlaine, Janez Menart, Dragotin Kette, Rilke, Baudelaire - these are my poets.

I like Bowie because he liked Iggy Pop.
