Our family is making collective donations to UNICEF and the Red Cross. The tragedy seems miles around from my house in the suburbans but I'm glued to CNN; I seem to have it turned on in the background whenever I'm in this house. These are crucial moments. And it heartens me to see this out pouring of kindness.
