3 for 3 challenge!!!!

penelopes_web tagged me to take the challenge of listing 3 things to be thankful for, for 3 days.
I think I'll keep this simple :)

1_I'm thankful for the little bamboo tongs that keep us from burning our fingers when we remove toast from the toaster oven.

2_I'm thankful for my iPod which is old and lovely and which helps keep me sane :)

3_I'm thankful for the little red hobnail tea pot that Lauren and I have used countless times to make soothing cups of Earl Grey tea!

I really like the tea pot. Is it cast iron?

Lovely, just lovely.

Reminds me of some tv show where one of the museum workers was a girl who worked with the tea service and spent her time doing the Tea Ceremony for patrons and talking about how the patina formed on the pot over the hundreds of years of use.

She was killed because she came out of hiding. Was it a Sherlock or American Sherlock version. Someone hid in a cabinet with her but left and when he got back she was dead

The iPod is gorgeous.

Heard a broadcast yesterday on Crisis of Play in America. Seems that children are over protected and overscheduled in play these days. Swing sets and slides and jungle gyms are being torn down and people are way too letigious and suing everyone all the time and on their cell phones and not playing with their children so children are not learning how to play growing up.

Open, adventurous play where children are socialized and get to know each other and form teams and work together isn't happening. Playgrounds are closing and way over supervised.

There are only 12 Adventure playgrounds in the US now. Soft ground of sand, risky areas where kids can try things and attempt and form, plan, decide, and set goals and work together. May get a little hurt. Supervised from afar. 75 per cent of the parents don't know how to play with their own children; they are on their cell phones. We are reaping what we've sown; computers, cell phones, emails. I'm a product myself.

Where am I? at the gym or walking in the rain? No, I'm sitting here on this uncomfortable chair posting this.

Love this - thank you for doing this with me!

I'm thankful for my tea pot too, brings to mind so many memories...tea in the early mornings before school and late nights helping with homework and projects.
:))

I just read all three days, backwards, and love all nine of your choices. The tost tongs especially charmed me. I've never seen toast tongs before. Sometimes the simplest things are the most appreciated. A friend of mine just told me about asking his grandmother what of the many improvements and inventions she'd seen in her 92 years she thought was the best. He was asking this question back in the 60's so his grandmother was probably born in the 1860's. She said, "Window screens!" When you think about it - no more flying biting things, a lot less malaria and other insect-borne disease. Yeah, I wouldn't want to give up window screens. FanSee
