In the days before swearing was an accepted thing, in the days of "Take that, you bounder," "Kingdom Come" was a common expression in confrontation. Where they would threaten to "Send you to kingdom come," or "Knock you into kingdom come." Hasn't really been that long ago. During my lifetime, anyway.
