Google Maps now lets you turn any location into a game of Pac-Man

Your neighborhood just got a lot more interesting. Google has released a new feature for Maps that lets you turn any location into a game of Pac-Man — all you have to do is click the new Pac-Man button that resides in the lower left corner of the screen. When you do, whatever section of the world you're looking at will transform into the pixelated arcade classic, complete with four colorful ghosts and the iconic music.

Quiz: What New Book Should You Read This Spring?

Their little quiz netted me this which actually sounds pretty interesting.
From amazon_Brace yourself for the most astonishing, challenging, upsetting, and profoundly moving book in many a season. An epic about love and friendship in the twenty-first century that goes into some of the darkest places fiction has ever traveled and yet somehow improbably breaks through into the light. Truly an amazement—and a great gift for its publisher.
When four classmates from a small Massachusetts college move to New York to make their way, they're broke, adrift, and buoyed only by their friendship and ambition. There is kind, handsome Willem, an aspiring actor; JB, a quick-witted, sometimes cruel Brooklyn-born painter seeking entry to the art world; Malcolm, a frustrated architect at a prominent firm; and withdrawn, brilliant, enigmatic Jude, who serves as their center of gravity. Over the decades, their relationships deepen and darken, tinged by addiction, success, and pride. Yet their greatest challenge, each comes to realize, is Jude himself, by midlife a terrifyingly talented litigator yet an increasingly broken man, his mind and body scarred by an unspeakable childhood, and haunted by what he fears is a degree of trauma that he’ll not only be unable to overcome—but that will define his life forever.
In rich and resplendent prose, Yanagihara has fashioned a tragic and transcendent hymn to brotherly love, a masterful depiction of heartbreak, and a dark examination of the tyranny of memory and the limits of human endurance.

I find, I guess partly because I'm re-editing my stories about them, that I'm in a QAF kind of mood and this little vid goes along well with that. It's comprised mostly of out-takes, Gale and Randy having a great time and it's done to 'If I Had You', so win/ freakin' win.

-enjoy and click over to YouTube so you can, as [livejournal.com profile] secretsolitaire would say, send the vidder, [livejournal.com profile] bibiherz, some love.

The story first:
It's called 'Hotel Sin' and is written by Brian Hennessey aka big-brian-o and for any of you who have read any of his other stories, this one continues in the same quality vein. It' takes place in modern day San Antonio TX and centers around the 'Gale Harold-esque' character of Jesse James, a troubled detective who finds himself investigating a gruesome murder case that has taken place at  'Hotel Sin', a decrepit, abandoned, except for the homeless who call it home, on-the-edge-of-town motel. Brian's story is graphic and intense and so worth the read. It now is at 10 chapters with plenty more to come, I'm sure. As a bonus, he really brings the city of San Antonio alive, with many insider details, which makes the story all that much more real.
The first chapter can be found here
His journal with all the postings can be found here

Now, for the vids: and please remember to click through so the vids record more view and so you can 'Like It'
The first is by our very own [livejournal.com profile] tv_fan_2008 who has done a terrific job with this. Send her some love & maybe even join her YouTube channel Equexin.

and the second is the improved version, as in very very little screaming to interrupt the enjoyment, of Adam's beautiful new single so very very beautifully sung.

-enjoy

Because I'm pretty limited in how much time I can give to it, fanfic-wise, I'm only really reading the Adam Lambert_Tommy Joe Ratliff pairing from GlamNation.

which I read about a week ago now, simply will NOT leave me alone. I keep going over it and over it in my mind, such amazing images, concepts, atmosphere described within its 21,000 words can catch me off-guard in any quiet moments, she tells a good story .

And an unusual one, in this case. Very unusual, kind of primal, kind of animalistic, but with no tidy ending. In this case, it really is as much about the journey as the destination.

In the author's words:'
The incredibly life-like figment of Adam's imagination drops belly-down, claws outstretched, eyes flickering left then right then left again. Thin crooked ears like antennae swivel forward in a question.
'

This comes at the very beginning of [livejournal.com profile] blue_soaring's story the rest of which is Adam's journey as he tries to come to terms with what or who this figment of his imagination is. There are no easy answers, nothing is hurried or quickly explained and on some personal level, it haunts me. Knowledge about Adam/ Tommy or GlamNation is not required, this is very AU and so, if your in the mood for something different and well written, check out this story.

Also, the amazing [livejournal.com profile] quinn222 made the story banner,
which I find both evocatively & beautifully done
and
if you click on it, it gets bigger.

... I have thought it my duty to put down my discovery on paper_Antonie van Leeuwenhoek

So I am.

When Queer as Folk ended, some 5 years ago, I came here needing to find like-minded others because I didn't want the show, the characters to fade from me and while I haven't remain simply for QAF, I also haven't found another fandom to become a part of. I've only watched as other QAFers, not all most certainly but many, have moved, inevitably on. And it's been fun to watch, if not to be a part of, their excitement of discovery, to watch them not so much leave QAF behind as find something more relevant to invest in. I never expected to be one of them on any level.

So, imagine my surprise when I suddenly found myself becoming genuinely invested, in a non-participatory way, with the whole Adam/ Tommy friendship and [livejournal.com profile] quinn222 's wonderfully creative, as usual, graphic fic of The Glam Nation Tour. For those of you who know Quinn's work for QAF, I need say no more but, if you don't, then let me just say that her fics always emphasis the visual with this one revolving around scrapbooking

Her story is called Glam Nation 2010, As a bonus,  if you check past entries they are sprinkled with several gifs of concert interaction between Adam and Tommy mainly. They are very touchy-touchy and playful together, ya gotta love that. You'll find one here of Adam playing excessively with Tommy's hair and, seriously, who can blame him, along with a short little vid of Sutan, the makeup guy discussing his relevance to the tour.

This story is PERFECT for summer. Well, it's perfect for ANY time but for summer, it really is just perfect.

Some pics of the boys

Another bonus, they both actually seem to be really lovely human beings, and especially great with the fans.

Iwould like to recommend
what well may be
one of the best books I've ever read
A young adult novel written, as one reviewer put it
'in a plain style punctuated by vivid images'

Zuckus' plain style is wonderful
but it's his vivid images that I find the most compelling.
And having the story told through the eyes of a weary, compassionate Death
lends a poignancy I don't think he could have achieved any other way

It takes place during WWII and
follows the lives of the citizens of one small German town

It can be purchased through
Amazon
and, of course,
Barnes&Noble

A Binding Fate
Story

Teresa's Preface
Had I known at the time the fate I was subjecting him to, I would have sent him away the moment I first opened my door to him. Instead, I found myself helplessly lost in the lure of his scent and reveling in the sound of his strong, steady heartbeat. His eyes- eyes that held such youthful exuberance were mixed with intelligence that appealed to my overtly curious nature. Should I have turned him away that night? Who is to say. That is a question I cannot allow myself to dwell on. The outcome of my actions remains the same, regardless.

As I watch over his motionless body, I listen for the quick rush of his pulse. I long for the rise and fall of his chest and a heartbeat so familiar to my ears I could pick him out of a crowd of strangers without so much as an effort.

I am disturbed that the only sound to be heard is his silence. I have taken away everything that he was and replaced it with the very existence I am cursed to endure if only because I find myself too selfish to let him go. His future as it is now will take on a different path, one that may or may not collide with mine. The only thing I am completely sure of…

This time, the choice will be his

I work at *waves to lastglances* and they play music, all kinds of music...some you want to hear, some you don't. And a lot of which I'd probably never hear otherwise. And they give away what they play on the sound system to the employees, you just have to ask and if no one else has claimed it, it's yours...only after a fairly long waiting period.

That's how I heard this one. The very one I want to recommend.

It's Radiohead's

I, sadly, pay very little attention to lyrics, it was the music and
the lead singer, Thom Yorke's voice that drew me in.
Someone else had already claimed it so...I paid.
