I've decided to just have done with this so another, and final,
6-27-2013 10-27-11 AM day!!!

The Fifty Question meme
If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today? As I include myself within the category of --everyone I know-- since I do, in fact know myself I would gather-up my husband and my daughter today and I would take us to the beach where we would visit with the ocean until we all died together there tomorrow. I don’t care for this question.

Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous? No. In some real sense, I’m here for my child and she doesn’t care how attractive I am or how famous I am. All she cares about is that I’m here.

What is the difference between being alive and truly living? Awareness.

When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards, and just go ahead and do what you know is right? Depends on what you’re calculating risk and reward about. There is no one answer that can fit all situations.

If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake? Because we’ve been taught that mistakes are failures and no one wants to fail.

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you? Not that much.

When was the last time you noticed the sound of your own breathing? Last time I did meditation.

What do you love?  Have any of your recent actions openly expressed this love? There aren’t that many ‘whats’ that I truly love, only ‘whos’ still, I guess if I had to choose a ‘what’ it would be art and, for me, I express my love every time I put pencil to paper.

In 5 years from now, will you remember what you did yesterday?  What about the day before that?  Or the day before that? Some days I will remember even in five years because I take photos representing some days and put them, annotated, in a photo album and I write several times a month in a separate journal for my daughter. But every day? No. Not even close.

Decisions are being made right now.  The question is:  Are you making them for yourself, or are you letting others make them for you? A little of both because, life is, whether we like it or not, whether we want to admit it or not, about compromise. The decisions I make affect others and their decisions affect me and we have to be aware of that very reality. I’m not doing this on my own. No one is.

Fifty ALL done out of fifty :D

The Fifty Question meme
6-27-2013 10-27-11 AM Two Days In One!!!
At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive? Alone, when I’m either drawing or writing. Not alone, when Lauren and I are exploring something new, be it idea or place.

If not now, then when? I believe that every day should mean another accomplishment or an attempt at another accomplishment anyway. So if not now, then maybe tomorrow.

If you haven’t achieved it yet, what do you have to lose? Nothing.

Have you ever been with someone, said nothing, and walked away feeling like you just had the best conversation ever? No, although my daughter says that this is what she does with her best friend all the time.

Why do religions that support love cause so many wars? Because, I think, for far too many of them, but not all, their love only extends to their own kind, to those who believe as they do. If someone doesn’t believe as they do, then they are the enemy and don’t deserve even respect let alone love.

Is it possible to know, without a doubt, what is good and what is evil? Not for me it isn’t.

If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job? No. For one thing, a million dollars isn’t what it used to be plus, since I consider my art to be my job, I will be doing my work until the day I leave this place.

Would you rather have less work to do, or more work you actually enjoy doing? The latter.

Do you feel like you’ve lived this day a hundred times before? No. Each day is unique, has its own trials and accomplishments, its own ebb and flow.

When was the last time you marched into the dark with only the soft glow of an idea you strongly believed in? 1993

Forty done out of fifty :)

The Fifty Question meme

Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?
Either way I would lose half of myself so, I have no answer for this.

Is it possible to know the truth without challenging it first? I think that people who don’t challenge accepted truths don’t know themselves, they simply go along the same paths that others have made for them, blindly accepting something as true simply because someone before them said it was true.

Has your greatest fear ever come true? Hell no.

Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset?  Does it really matter now? Yes, frankly, it does.

What is your happiest childhood memory?  What makes it so special? I have no one happiest memory. A number of happy memories revolve around afternoons spent at Pacific Beach in San Diego. Just my parents and me, the soft sun, the warm surf, and a distant radio usually playing a baseball game or music. I loved playing in the waves and lying on my towel afterwards, dozing as the sun dried me. We’d play cards, read, eat a picnic lunch and then as the sun set, we’d walk home to our little four-plex apartment, pretty tired out from an afternoon of doing pretty much nothing.

Thirty done out of fifty :)

Two days for the price of one since my answers are much shorter than the questions themselves.
The Fifty Question meme

How come the things that make you happy don’t make everyone happy? Everyone isn’t me, different needs, wants, expectations.

What one thing have you not done that you really want to do?  What’s holding you back? Get my drawings into a gallery. Conflicting goals, shyness, lifestyle choices.

Are you holding onto something you need to let go of? Shyness, I suppose if we are to take the answer to the above question at face value

If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why? If I could, I would live in Manhattan because it’s a place where life happens, for better or worse, 24/ 7. At least the kind of life I want to live.

Do you push the elevator button more than once?  Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster? Absolutely and no.

Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton? The former.

Why are you, you? Nature and nurture. DNA and environment together, if not equally, in combination.

Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend? Not always, maybe not even mostly, but I’ve had the same friends, in some cases, for decades so, I must being doing something alright.

Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you? The latter.

What are you most grateful for? Each next day.

Twent-five done out of fifty :)

The Fifty Question meme

You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire.  They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend.  The criticism is distasteful and unjustified.  What do you do? I would admire them less, respect them less and, without much trepidation, put in a least a little of my two-cents about the friend they’re disrespecting. Distasteful and unjustifiable criticism, especially behind someone’s back, shouldn’t be tolerated.

If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?
My mother’s advice to me: Leave a place as good as, if not better than, you found it.
My daughter’s advice: Don’t judge until you’ve walked a mile in someone else’s shoes.

Would you break the law to save a loved one? Yes.

Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity? I saw in one person both at the same time and it was a little scary, he was a little scary. But he was a friend, a good friend so I dealt with him as best as I could for as long as I could.

What’s something you know you do differently than most people? If given a situation, any situation to be accomplished, no matter how small, no matter how big, my mind scatter-shots to every single little tiny thing that will have to be done to make that happen. To every single little tiny thing. I can easily overwhelm myself just thinking about what needs to be done so we can go out to dinner.

Fifteen done out of fifty :)

So, end of January means one-third of my mission101 time is fini and what do I have to show for it?
Well: out of a possible 101 projects, I have 39 Completed with 40 Still to Complete and with 22 OnGoing, which means projects that can't be completed until the very very end, things that represent the daily ins-and-outs of my little life, routines I'm trying to establish or keep established.
In essence, you could say I'm about half way complete if you imagine, as I do, that I'll fairly well maintain the daily stuff. Which sounds good, doesn't it? But reality, I did the easier projects first saving, as I am wont to do, the harder things for later.
Still, I'm good with it. The details can be found here.

To which I say whoa!!!
gaeln9796: (icon 00_mission101_06)
While I certainly won't bore you with all the details, those can be found here :) there are a couple of things, two projects completed, that I do want to post about.

The FIRST project, tasks #55 through 58, was a reorganizing of my drawings which, honestly, were scattered everywhere and so, I've pulled all 65 or so of them together in one portfolio and have cleaned, signed, and fixed them with Permant Fix so they will now stay safe and should there be an earthquake, I'll be able to grab them quickly :) Always thinking ahead.
DSCF9190
The SECOND project, tasks #33 through 35, was going back to the beginning of my LiveJournal postings and running forward through the archives cleaning it up, eliminating around 15% of my postings, and, most importantly, copying into a word.doc any and all relevant-to-Lauren posts to add to her ongoing and forever journal.
I'd started her journal before she was even born, in September of 1993, and continued until early 2003 when, for reasons I know longer know, I stopped and have only very recently begun writing to her again. That left a lot of empty time, early 2003 until late 2014, until it dawned on me that I have in fact captured much of our lives in my LiveJournal which I started in 2006 but didn't really do anything with until 2007.
I can't tell you how wonderful it was to be able to go back and relive the past eight years, even the painful parts. Now all I need do is get all the pages printed, Office Max here I come!! and figure out a way to not stop writing to her. Also, the way I think about my LiveJournal now has changed. It's no longer just mine, it's also me communicating to Lauren, reminding her of who we now are. I just hope YouTube never goes away!!

Also, a TID-BIT. Task #90 is Project Happy Moments which I have snagged from [livejournal.com profile] fansee and a post she made here.
I changed it up a little so that at the end of each week, I write a small note, dropping it into a glass jar about a good thing that happend that week. The good thing could be finishing a project, having a really good conversation with Lauren, going out to dinner with David, or having coffe with my ladies. Just whatever. A gentle reminder!!
My jar empty, with accurtemonts, and my jar with one month's of part way full.

my sixth [livejournal.com profile] mission101 and, as part of that, I have a request!!
mission101_LJ A simple simple request.
icon camera_b&w Over the coming 12 months, I'm going to continue doing my monthly photography posts but with a change. Actually, more an addition.
camera I find I like taking photographs to prompts but as I am no longer participating in [livejournal.com profile] 100_snapshots, three lists, three hundred promtpts proved enough, I was wondering if maybe you guys could prompt me
286_camera I need only 20 to 25 prompts as I am only going to include 2 per month in my normal 'Thi is Our Life in Photographs' posts. I've got Lauren coming up with five and thought it might be fun if some LiveJournal friends provided the other 20 or so.
10a_artist stephmck If you do want to help me out, please think of words that are visual, artistic, my only limitation  I had a bitch of a time with some of 100_snaps words because they just too abstract.
143_t.hanks iconomicon I thank in advance anyone who helps me out :)
