Some books are meant to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested;  That is, some books are to be read only in parts; Others to be read, but not curiously; And some few to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.
          — Francis Bacon

So, what one (or two or three) book(s) did you find that had 'to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.'
For me, one would be American Gods by Neil Gamon, another 11/22/63 by Stephen King, and finally At Swim, Two Boys by Jamie O'Neill.

I look forward to hear your choices :)
