I'm no huge fan of Microsoft, still...check out the integration of technology.

Date: 2012-06-09 03:08 am (UTC)When I was young, even now, I could completely ignore the world around me when reading a book. I'd be sitting in the livingroom reading, my parents would come in to watch TV and I'd leave to go into my room to continue reading. Is that really any different?
And anyway, I just love the interactivity of it, all so touch and language operated. We're going to spend time on these machines, listen to music, watch movies, read books, do art, so we might as well do all that in as complimentary a way to our lives as we can, working with not against.

I just fear that now, it the pervasiveness of it, we truly will withdraw from others a whole more than we have in the past, because not everyone reads like we do, but everyone seems to have their head down in Ipods, Ipads, earbuds, etc. It's more all-encompassing, so will society be individual islands, not making eye contact? Before only nerds like us looked down to turn the page, now it's a large portion of the population. I don't know, I just don't know.
