I'm posting this email anyway just because it seems right to do so. _________________________________________________________ From President Obama Gayle -- This afternoon, I'm casting my ballot in my hometown of Chicago. I'm told I'll be the first sitting president to take advantage of early voting. And I can't wait. I know I can count on your vote. Now, it's on all of us to make sure our friends and family step up. Reach out to folks you know in important early vote states. Look, this race is extremely tight. It's going to come down to which side can more effectively turn out the vote in these final days, and early vote is a huge part of that. Whether people get out to vote this year, in this election, is even more critical than the last time around. So this is serious, and I'm going to need your help if we want to win. Connect with your friends and urge them to vote early: http://my.barackobama.com/Help-Your-Friends-Vote-Early Thanks, Barack P.S. -- Not on Facebook? Don't let that stop you from getting the word out. Ask your friends and family to get the information they need at vote.barackobama.com. ----- Time is running out to do the work it'll take to win. Please donate to the Obama Victory Fund now. | |
David and I will vote this weekend, California has early voting, and, to be perfectly frank, have given more to this campaign than all previous campaign combined. My sweet little 18 year old, this is Lauren's first election, is FREAKING OUT, she is beside herself imaging our country if Romney wins. This matters beyond all our day-in...day-out problems as it sets the tone for what will come.
Like Mr. Obama say, this is serious and he does need our help so, if you can so, please do.

Date: 2012-10-26 12:32 am (UTC)To be perfectly honest, the only reason I'm even bothering to go vote this time is because of the amendments - state and local - and not for president.
It's not because I don't care either; it's because of the electoral college.
My state, as a republican state, will automatically go to Romney. Louisiana's been a conservative state for a long time. It will continue to do so no matter how big of a douche bag the GOP's candidate is.
In fact, because 40 of the 50 states are already "set", it's only the 10 battle ground states that actually count...all because of the electoral college.
Honestly, the only thing this election has done is annoyed the hell out of me because it underlines how little my vote and the votes of most Americans even matter...because of the electoral college.
And yes, I'm sure you can sense my bitterness. :P
I do agree with your daughter though; Romney does scare me.
