July 2, 2013_Tuesday_June reading

Carl Sagan's Billions and Billions is wonderful and wonderful!! The Wednesday Wars by Gary Schmidt, which was the bookclub book, is a lovely teacher/student relationship developed over the course of a school year of Wednesdays through Shakespeare. Higher by Neal Bascomb is about the sky-scraper building battle between the Chrysler Building and 40 Wall Street with the Empire State thrown in for good measure. What went on to get these buildings built was amazing outrageous. Plus my reread of rest of The Seventh Tower series by Garth Nix, the first of which I reread in May and all of which I love!!
Sunday July 7, 2013_the pretty blue & white agapantha flowers in my court and side yards which are all gone now :(

Friday July 12, 2013_at the eye doctors for Lauren and me as per every summer.

Also July 12, 2013_They're remodeling our little Princeton Plaza and in one empty store they're storing signage, which I found interesting. And colorful!

Friday July 19, 2013_Our first finished puzzle. Lauren and I were so proud. I liked this puzzle, this puzzle can stay.

Also July 19, 2013_then we went to the movies and saw Despicable Me2!! YAY...YAY...YAY!!!

Wednesday July 24, 2013_I'm collecting these little figures from Game of Thrones, Ned Stark and Renly Baratheon. I will be buying more :)

Thursday July 25, 2013_Our second finished puzzle. Lauren remain so proud. This one is less pieces (550) then the bird one above (1,000) but this one is cut on a curve which creates weirdly shaped pieces.

Tuesday July 30, 2013_My wildlife photographer is home and so, she got this shot of the kitty from across the street or maybe next door or who the hell knows where from.

Date: 2013-08-03 04:15 am (UTC)I always love your 'What I Read' pics! My mother would have told you, "Get your nose out of those books and go get some fresh air." (Lots of reading!)
Your agapantha flowers were gorgeous. Now you have to look forward to next year.
I love both the puzzles. On the cat puzzle, I can't really see the curve, but I take your word for it. Speaking of cats, I haven't done a puzzle since we got Razor. I feel that neither he nor Ziva would be helpful.
The black and white cat is purty. My cats are not allowed to roam. Ziva has never set foot outdoors, but Razor was a street cat before Samantha rescued him. He would like to explore the linked backyards. Twice he's gone over the fence when I was distracted but my neighbor chased him back immediately. He is afraid of the street out front, thank heavens. Re: 365 Project
Date: 2013-08-05 01:26 am (UTC)The flowers have already been deadheaded, they last such a short period of time and only bloom once per year so, you're right...next year!
If you look at the center of the cat's head, you'll notice lines of pieces that curve out first to the right and then back to the left up toward the fish. The entire puzzle is like that, even more so in many places, which really does make for some very interesting piece shapes and unlike the fish puzzle which is very straight.
I've had a cat like Ziva, my Milo never went outdoors, and my last cat, Erte, was like Razor, not a street cat, how cool that Samantha saved him, but Erte was an outdoor cat that had to become an indoor cat due to condo rules when we moved. She adjusted.

Date: 2013-08-05 01:52 am (UTC)And thank you again. The plants flower once a year with the blooms lasting only 3 or 4 weeks. Now, they've all be deadheaded :(
The puzzles have been so much fun especially doing them with Lauren. Happily, we are working well together. And I'll let Lauren know about the kitty photo, my little wildlife photographer.
