First, as always_February 1, 2014_January reading_mainly consisted of Neil Gaiman's American Gods, for which he won several awards and which I enjoyed tremendously. So fun! Crazy Wisdom is one of my old old books that I had never read, which makes the case for an alternative life-view, it's written by Wes 'Scoop' Nisker, who once was a San Francisco DJ I listened to and liked, which is probably why I bought the book eons ago.
I learned a tremendous amount from Le Guin's Steering the Craft: Exercises and Discussions on Story Writing for the Long Navigator or the Mutinous Crew, which I also thoroughly enjoyed. The Great Courses vid, Writing & Civilization, was about the science of the decipherment of ancient languages. Terrific!!

February 12, 2014_Thursday_David was driving us home from somewhere when I noticed the sky! Taken through the car window while zipping along the highway :)

February 14, 2014_Friday_Valentines!!! Nom nom :)

February 16, 2014_Sunday_David went away to Boston for a few business-related days so, I spent four hours of Sunday watching Lauren play Kill Zone which weirdly, given I am vaguely pacifistic and entirely non-violent, I thoroughly enjoyed watching her play. That's her big ole gun in the lower right-hand corner! The game is David's, but she plays it A LOT better. Interesting :)

February 20, 2014_Thursday_So, when my dad died, I inherited ALL of his and my mom's and my Grandparent's photo albums, which had been somewhat organized over the years by my mom, but unfortunately she used the albums in this photograph, nasty albums that eat your old and precious pictures, bad plastic, sticky pages, so, I took them all apart and am starting over again, using archival quality albums. These are empty and have since been disposed of in the garbage and taken away to the dump.
I first started this project five years ago, taking apart a couple of these albums, but I got frustrated, then bored and so stopped. Now, as I look at the hundreds of photos I have to reorganize, I hope I've haven't bitten off more than I can chew!!

Ending on a pretty note_February 26, Wednesday_I have had some bulbs in a pot on my porch for several years that leaf out but have never before bloomed. This year, they did. Nice!!

Stay creative!!

Date: 2014-02-28 09:40 pm (UTC)I'm glad somebody else has books they bought years ago and never read. I'm chronic.
What an amazing sky! I'd love to know what weather pattern formed those clouds.
Ah, the album problem. I have something similar that I must start tackling. John and Pam have already said they will toss my albums when they clean up after me, so I need to pull out all family-and-friends pages (which I know they or my other sons will want) and consolidate them. I also must decide what to do with my recent pictures since putting them in albums seems purposeless.
And that flowering plant. The colors are gorgeous! Do you think it was waiting for a drought to bloom?
FanSee, already looking forward to your March post.

Date: 2014-02-28 10:22 pm (UTC)Our sky recently has been so boring. Now that we're finally getting some weather, things are looking up (literally & Metaphorically)
I'm trying to reduce my parent's albums from the 13 shown to 2, that I think Lauren can handle. Happily, I've pretty much kept up our albums so, I'm okay there. You should still put yours in albums, you never can tell what they'll do when actually faced with the decision, keep or throw away.
And yes, I'm fairly certain the bulbs were just waiting for the drought to show their colors, the silver lining :)

Date: 2014-03-02 11:40 am (UTC)I know what you mean about those horrible old albums, so many of mine and my parents' photos were in those, it has taken me ages to sort them all and transfer them over.
Beautiful freesia, or that's what it looks like to me.

The flowers are from a bulb, that is what I know so, sure why not, let's call them freesia :)

Date: 2014-03-03 07:27 am (UTC)Weird weather. Every single bulb I planted is coming up in two weeks. They are supposed to be early, mid late spring and early summer bulbs and they are all coming up now!
Check out Project Life Pocket page albums; you might like them if you like journaling in them, too.
What did you learn from Steering the Craft? I didn't care for it much.

Re: Amyrillis
Date: 2014-03-03 10:35 pm (UTC)I did check those pages, you sent me links to some that you have used, but I'm not so much journaling as organizing my parent's old old photographs and at the moment, I'm just trying to get them into better, less corrosive binders :)
For once I did all of the exercises included at the end of the chapters, enjoyed and learned a great doing them very much and since I did all the exercises focused on a particular story I'm working on, I'm much further along on it then I would have been otherwise.
