Tuesday July 1, 2014_June media_a Tennessee Williams bio which was fascinating and just a little depressing; an entire book about the pivotal year of 1959; The Americans, the photography of Robert Frank; Moonwalking With Einstein, about a journalist's personal journey in the world of memory competition that I loved, and The Hotel on Place Vendome, the true story of Paris's Hotel Ritz during its WWII occupation, my bookclub recommendation which everyone enjoyed!!!

What was depressing about Williams life?

I know nothing about it.

Such fun you are having.

Great!

The Fourth of July is a fun holiday and the only one where it has a pretty good chance of being good weather so you can have your party outside. I am glad that you had a good one.

Great pictures, as usual.

I just read a review of a new biography of Tennessee Williams which the reviewer liked a great deal. Of course, I failed to note the name of the book or the author and promptly threw the review out. I read a biography of Williams a year ago or two, and would like to read another slant on him. If I stumble across the author and title, I'll send them to you.

My daughter-in-law Pam just spent a week on business in Heidelburg (where she and John lived for more than three years) and was able to go to her book club meeting while she was there. It's a different arrangement from any book club I've heard of. They meet once a month, rotating among houses, and the host of the last meeting brings the book club tub with her, Every month each member reports on a book she has read and puts it in the tub. She then takes another book out of the tub for the next month. When everybody who wants to has read a book, it's retired and a new book is put into circulation. That sounds like a pretty nifty idea to me.
