I believe last post I may have said something along the lines of  '...no more Christmas pics, I swear', while what I should have said was '...no more Christmas pics of MY CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS, I swear,' because, yeah, there will be more of Christmas stuff for sure.


Sunday December 12, 2010 Lauren and I did a little volunteering at a local highschool packing bags and kits for those in need in Zambia, a lot was done in an hour and it was nice to help.



Monday December 13, 2010 Did most of my LJ Christmas cards, the trees went mainly to friends at qaf_friends, while the two different deers went to RL friends.


Tuesday December 14, 2010 Just before dark when I arrived at work for the night-shift, which, in my case, is 5:00pm to 11:00pm. I used a particular setting, Enhanced Portrait, which softens the image and caused the letters to blur out which I like.


Wednesday December 15, 2010 Had to bite-the-bullet and clean up the fruit that drops from the 'strawberry' tree, which, apparently, can be made into jam, not that I ever will. When you get to Saturday's pic, you'll see why this chore has to be done now all over again.


Thursday December 16, 2010 Our friend, Cindy, made us cookies and bread this year, the first of what we hope will become a Christmas tradition.


Friday December 17, 2010 I've had the Christmas Origami kit for YEARS and decided this year to include in the cards to close friends some of what i I've learned to make over the past couple of months plus a couple more that the kit taught me like the traditional star, which Lauren calls a ninja star, and the flying deer. The green & red squareish one at the front received a little stick-on snowflake to hold it together which isn't 'traditional' origami but whatever.


Saturday December 18, 2010 Self-explanatory, a big mess which is even bigger-er today. You can actually see the fallen 'strawberries'.

I wanted to both show where the fruit came from and where it ended up. It was an icky chore made better because at least I got a photograph out of it. Glad you liked.

I will definitely tell Cindy you thought her cookies looked great when I also tell her how great they tasted.

Ours is a miniaturize, next door they have several of the full size version and they are both beautiful and very messy. Next spring, I'm going to see if there isn't a spray or something to stop the fruit on mine. I'd never googled it, that is cool how they're native to western Europe and the Mediterranean basin, learn something new every day, right?

Yeah they'd do well in our climate I think. I'd never heard of them, but I'm always interested in botanics.

let me tell you what I do know, they are evergreen, their leaves stay the same dark green year round, in spring they get clusters of bell-shaped little cream-colored flowers at the tips of the branches, they are trimmed like a bush meaning there is no center truck, you just snip snip snip as you like to shape and thin out, the fruit is very messy as it rots quickly and, as I mentioned, they come in two sizes, small and really really big.

My favorite is the baked goods one. I like the composition. The parking lot's shimmering lights as well. Do the birds eat the strawberries?

Sad to think that all the baked goods have been eaten...nom nom. And sadly the birds don't eat the strawberries, those little dudes all need to be picked up one by one by one by one in various states of decomposition.
