Tuesday February 15, 2011_driving home @ 7:30am after having dropped Lauren off @ school

Wednesday February 16, 2011 our Flowering Plum at Lauren's insistence as in, 'Mom, you HAVE to post a picture of the tree, it looks so beautiful!!!'. Done is done.

Thursday, February 17, 2011 When cleaning out my dad's house, the stuff I didn't know what to do with, I ended up shoving much of it into 3 of his strong boxes and then, once home, shoving them into the back of my closet because I just did NOT want to deal. Now, nearly 4 years later, I have, letters from me to them, their passports throughout the years, including dad's alone when he traveled to Egypt after mom died and so on and on and on. Now, all done and while learning, again, how the brain works.

For Lauren: Just one of the things I found in the strong boxes, remember when you helped me pack them? Grandpa strung these, minus the 2 @ the front, together I'm sure for some very good reason which I don't know, probably, though, because they are the ones that mattered to him. There's a cameo that belonged to his mama, it's tucked, in this photo, into his highschool class ring. There's 2 of his favorite kind of jewelry: Native American with turquoise, and, don't be fooled, that one in the back is NOT a diamond. Of the 2 in front, both of which I wear a great deal, the smaller you bought for me for Mother's Day when you were 11 or 12, I wear it on my right-hand pinkie finger & the other is your grandpa's, I know nothing about it except I love it, I wear it on my right-hand index finger.

The last pic is great, but I also loved seeing a flowering tree -- it's still freezing here! :)

We never have snow so, for us, it's like 'EEEEEEEEE, so cool' By now, that tree is starting to leaf-out, pretty little pink blooms all over the ground. Sorry about freezing, soon very soon there will be spring.

Looks like a volcano in the end. :) But I like the third with the kind of L-shaped cloud. :)

It does look like a volcano, but there's SNOW!! See? Snow!! We never have snow, so yeah...snow.

I drive that street, in the third one, every day and that was one the prettier skies.

These are fantastic!

I especially love the first one with the softness of the clouds in contrast to the trees.

My favorite is the first one - texture, color and composition. The texture of the sharp branches, the feathery clouds and the misty-looking shin-high brown grass.

second favorite is one of headlight on road and clouds above.

Is the brain learning a video you own?

'Is the brain learning a video you own?'
it is, I bought it from the Great Courses catalog:
http://www.teach12.com/greatcourses.aspx
because Lauren is interested in Neuroscience. I'm now watching it a second time to better familiarize myself with terms & concepts. We've bought 4 of their courses, this one, one on building better sentences, one on argumentation, and one on study habits for high schoolers, and have enjoyed them all. I like being able to rewatch them whenever, and as often, as I want.

Have you or Lauren read any of Oliver Sacks' books?
